Criteria

   James was a percussionist through and through from birth and at the end of his life a budding Cellist, but the scholarship is open to any Colorado Senior High School Musician.  Woodwinds, Brass, Strings, Keyboards, Vocal, Percussion, Electronic Music, all are welcome to apply.  

   If you meet all the eligibility and requirements and are interested in applying for the scholarship, submit an introductory email with the required videos, invitations to live performances, transcripts, acceptance letters, letters of recommendation, essay and any volunteer activities to inquiries@jatmemsch.org. 

   You do not have to submit the required documents all at once, just that they are received by the deadline for submission, June 25, 2022.

   The James Alvin Tobias Memorial Scholarship Foundation Scholarship Eligibility and Requirements are: 

• Submit an unedited video of a recent performance piece weather at a recent live performance or just for the application process.
• If possible an invitation to a live performance.  
• If a live performance is not possible, the selection committee would have to request additional videos to get a more complete read on your talent.

• Grade point average of 3.50 or higher along with senior year transcripts. 

• Will have Graduated from a Colorado High School by the time the deadline for submission for the scholarship, midnight June 25, 2022.

• Acceptance letter(s) from accredited four-year university music schools for full-time study. 

• Two to three reference letters from non-family members dated within the last year.

• A 1000 word essay on how you overcame an adversity in your  young life and how you plan to use your experience in your future life.

• Any Volunteer/Extra Curricular Activities. 

     Applicants may only apply for the James Alvin Tobias Memorial Scholarship once. It is intended for newly graduated high school seniors only.

     By applying to the James Alvin Tobias Memorial Scholarship you attest to your identity , character and activities under penalty of law. 

     If awarded the scholarship you grant permission to The James Alvin Tobias Memorial Scholarship Foundation to use your name and photos/videos of you showcasing the website winner page and across all social media platforms.  

     Applications will be accepted from January 1st, 2022 through midnight June 25th, 2022.  Announcement of the winner of the James Alvin Memorial Scholarship is on July 11th 2022.

     The winner will be notified first by email followed by a congratulatory phone call to set up a possible meeting and photo opportunity for the winners page on the website.

     The winner of the James Alvin Tobias Memorial Scholarship selected by the selection committee is final. No exceptions will be made.
